Popoki + Tea will hosting an ADULT adoption and selling their delicious boba teas! FREE TO THE PUBLIC. This promises to be great fun, so please come by and open up your hearts and homes to these cats.

All cats are being privately fostered by families around O'ahu, this is an amazing opportunity to make a great impact for these cats and these families. Adoptions fees, guidelines, and medical services may vary between all cats and their respective foster families.

Wainani Wellness Workshop (Session 2)

STRETCH & RELEASE

This session will be focused purely on foam roller massage and releasing techniques to get you into a parasympathetic state, integrating breath, release of tension, alignment and connective tissue release. Staying hydrated is a key element in all sessions but most importantly in this final day so make sure to bring your water bottles. There is a free water filter station right by the studio door to refill your bottles.

We will go over a variety of techniques in which each person will prefer one over the other, we highly suggest you bring a pen and notepad to jot down some notes to remember your favorite ones.

BREATHING AND AWARENESS

Experience how proper breathing technique and body alignment effects your total well-being. This is the path for effective and efficient progression in Pilates. Great for Pilates beginners, those looking to move better and everyone else.

STRENGTHENING & BALANCE

This is focused on spinal articulation, joint control and balance while stretching the tissues that allow flushing of the toxins out of the cells, allowing fresh blood in that feeds the cells around the joints, thus increasing blood flow in and around each vertebrae. We will use the foam roller, mini stability ball to facilitate this technique. All provided for use in the studio.

Author Talk & Dance Performance

JOIN US for an evening with author, engaging literary speaker, and contemporary dancer Mary Lou Sanelli, who will give a presentation and share "Crow," special dance piece inspired by one of the essays from her memoir.

  • 5:00 - 6:00 | talk and dance performance featuring Yvonne Yanagihara, Camille Monson, & Maria Luisa Sanelli

Sanelli has earned a solid reputation in the literary and public-speaking community through a steady commitment to writing and through twenty years of successful public readings and presentations. She has published seven collections of poetry and three works of non-fiction, Among Friends, Falling Awake, and her newest title, A Woman Writing.

Saturday Soul

PAW PRINT WORKSHOP with Dee Oliva (10-4P) -- $15 each pet

  • Create a unique momento with your pet!  Local artist, Dee Oliva, will be providing clay forms for your pet to press its paw into.  You also have the option to create a unique clay figurine of your pet.  After the workshop, Dee will fire all the clay pieces and return them to the shop for you to pick up in the next week.  This is an awesome way to commemorate your best bud!

ANIMAL COMMUNICATION with Eileen Abe (10-4P) -- $1/per minute

  • Ever want to know what your pet is really thinking? Well Eileen Abe may be able to help you.  Eileen will be offering trial communication with your pet.  You will be able to ask questions about certain pet behaviors, previous living situations, or even food preferences.  Come with an open mind and open heart.  Experience this amazing chance to understanding your pet on a better level!

Due to overwhelming response from our first event with Popoki + Tea, the room occupancy will be monitored at the shop entrance.  20 people will be allowed to enter the shop at once.

Pedestrian Safety Month

Walk Wise Hawai'i, a State Department of Transportation program, will be in Kaimuki on August 7th and would welcome volunteers for an hour of sign waving and/or passing out pedestrian safety lights along Waialae Avenue from 5pm-6pm. If you have time to participate please sign up with Pamela Chow so we have a count for signs and lights at pchow2@hawaii.edu.

  • 4:45pm Meet outside of Coffee Talk to pick up signs/lights, get instructions from Walk Wise Hawaii

  • 5pm-6pm Sign wave, pass out lights, walk along Waialae           

  • 6:15pm Enjoy a leisurely dinner on your own with friends and family in Kaimuki Town
